At the same time the master or ”pehtoori “ of the manor proudly introduces the moose’s way of life to you. The Moose Manor, Hirvikartano, is located on the hinterlands of Himosvuori, in the middle of the wild landscapes. The massive main building of the Moose manor was built in the 1800's. The history of the state itself dates back to the 1730's.

For thousands of years the moose have wandered in the woods of Moose manor and can today be seen also in a corral. The moose has been earlier a catch animal and important to our ancestors. In addition to the valuable meat, horns were used to make weapons and tools. Even the blood vessels were used for sewing and skin was utilised for example in the clothes. The moose has been worshipped by our ancestors as this mythical animal represents ancient power and beauty. Its pictures have been found in rock paintings and its masculine figure has been used even as a figurehead of boats.
